Medication & Insulin

If your pet takes regular medication, leaving them at a hotel can bring extra worry. At PurrNest, medication and insulin are given according to your own vet's written plan and under the oversight of our in-house vet.

What we can give

• Tablets and capsules (hidden in food or a treat if needed)
• Eye and ear drops, ointments
• Injections, including insulin for diabetic cats and dogs
• Treatments that must be given at fixed times

What we ask of you

Please bring medication in its original packaging, enough for the whole stay and ideally a little extra. Ask your vet for a written plan with doses, times and anything we should watch out for. For pets on insulin, also tell us their feeding times and monitoring routine at home; keeping the routine exactly the same matters a great deal for stable blood sugar. If your pet is tricky to medicate, tell us what works at home: some cats will only take a tablet in one particular treat, and some dogs only with their dinner.

We log every dose and mention it briefly in your daily update. If we notice any change in appetite, energy or behaviour, our vet assesses it and we let you know straight away. That way treatment carries on without interruption while you are away, and you can enjoy your trip knowing the right dose is given at the right time.
