A village running from the mountains to the sea
West of Kyrenia, Lapta runs down from the slopes of the Beşparmak mountains towards the sea. With its old village lanes, gardens and unhurried pace, it is home to local families and to British and other international residents, many of whom have lived here for a long time. The roads up to the hillside houses are narrow and winding — a detail we keep in mind when planning transfers.
The journey, transfers and a few tips
The drive from Lapta to Dikmen takes approximately 25–30 minutes, depending on traffic and the season. Lapta shares a transfer zone with Alsancak, Çatalköy and Esentepe. If the road up to your house is tricky for a car, we can agree a convenient meeting point on the main road instead.
Winding roads can make some cats and dogs car-sick. A few simple steps help:
- Avoid a big meal just before the journey; a light meal a few hours earlier is better.
- Put a blanket that smells of you in your cat's carrier.
- If your pet tends to be travel-sick, tell us in advance — and it is worth a word with your own vet.
- In summer, let's plan the transfer for early morning or the cool of late afternoon.
Long stays and older companions
